KSU - Auburn Preview

January 30, 2013

Redemption is the word being thrown around in the locker room at the Owls Nest this week. The Owls will finish out the practice schedule tomorrow night and get mentally ready for another SELC DI opponent on Saturday. Kennesaw State will be on the road in Auburn, Alabama this weekend as the team looks to rebound from a tough loss to Georgia Tech.

The Owls will face off with the Auburn Tigers, in what will be the first meeting between these two teams since 2007. The Owls come into the game at 0-1 after falling in the season opener. Auburn hasn't opened up their regular season but fell to NCAA DIII Birmingham-Southern in a scrimmage last week.

Last week, the Owls came out flat against Georgia Tech and struggled to run with the Jackets who were in much better shape. That has been a point of emphasis this week around the facility.

"We have been working a lot harder this week than we did in the preseason … our focus has been on groundballs and conditioning," stated senior Tom Mudrak.

KSU leaned on Brad Jones last week on offense. The attackman scored four goals to go along with one assist for the Owls. This week, the team will be looking for more players to get involved as no other player managed more than one goal for KSU last week.

"Obviously, the result last week is not what we were hoping for but it really exposed a lot of weaknesses that we hadn't addressed yet, now we have to look at the problems and do what we need to do to make sure they don’t happen again," noted Mudrak.

The Tigers finished 4-6 last year but brought in 18 freshmen this fall. The game will be played at the Hutsell Track Field on the campus of Auburn University. The forecast for Saturday is sunny with a high of 60 degrees.
