KSU - Georgia Tech Preview
We are less than a week away from the season opener of 2013. K-State will again host Georgia Tech at the Owls Nest and this year, the paper work is all submitted. Last year, the Owls beat the Yellow Jackets 9-2 but had to take a forfeit for not submitting the team roster by the league deadline. Last year's game was the first time that the two schools have met.
This game will serve as the season opener for both teams, although, KSU did defeat Georgia State in a scrimmage 13-7 on the 18th.
The Owls enter 2013 losing three starters from last year's squad while the Jackets only lost two. The Owls will rely on upperclassmen Brad Jones and Casey Newton on offense, while seniors Tom Mudrak and Kyle Teasdale will a solid defensive unit that returns all three starters from last year.
On the other end, the Jackets bring back a lot of young talent from last season. Freshmen filled the top four spots on the points list for Tech in 2012, led by Michael Thomas who finished with 47 points.
Saturday's forecast is calling for cold and breezy.
