SELC Tournament Begins with Wild Weather, Competition

Returning from last year’s Division 2 playoffs were Elon University, Savannah College of Art & Design and Tennessee Wesleyan College. First-time Division II playoff participants Kennesaw State University and University of North Florida were joined by Appalachian State University, who returned to the playoffs for the first time in four years.

The first Division II game Friday night at Northview High School No. 3 Tennessee Wesleyan edge past No. 6 Appalachian State, 9-7. The other quarterfinal game had No. 4 Kennesaw State put away North Florida, 15-5.

The second semifinal saw No. 1 SCAD knocked out of the tournament by No. 4 KSU 10-9. The winning goal was scored by Scott Schulze with 2.2 seconds remaining on the stadium scoreboard.
